Al Lucia began working in the pasta industry in 1982 as General Manager of Pasta World, which was later taken over by DEMACO.

He received technical training from some of the great technicians of that time like Gus Alati, Joe DeFrancisci, Mario Agnelli, Peter Volpi, Sandro Barbieri.

In 1985, he was hired by Henry Lambert’s Pasta and Cheese, the first nationally distributed fresh pasta company, to open a factory in California. After the acquisition by Nestle, he stayed on through the plant closure and continued with Nestle Technical Services until 1994, when he returned to DEMACO.

In 1997 he was moved to Minneapolis by Buhler, Inc. as Manager of US Pasta and Snack Equipment sales. From 2004 to 2010 he left the industry to work as a VP in the beverage field.

In 2009, when the DeFrancisci Family purchased DEMACO back, he reentered the pasta industry and has supported several equipment manufacturers, including DEMACO, AXOR, De Mari, Technosilos, Cusinato, Zamboni, and Italpast.
